The first is the layout: RV bare car modification is a very labor-intensive thing. First of all, we need to determine the layout of the RV, and the layout of the RV is limited by the internal size, so the internal concept designed in advance often has to be overthrown again.

In addition, riders who have never been in contact with RVs will find that most of the ideas are quite idealized. For example, there must be a bathroom in a B-type RV, and the bigger the better; Seats can be changed into beds, etc., and two families must be able to sleep together; find a relatively spacious place in the car, make a water tray, open the movable curtain when not in use, and use it when taking a bath or going to the toilet. Pull up; there are many other things, such as transforming the roof into a raised roof bed or making an expansion warehouse, and so on.

All these idealized assumptions have actually been practiced by previous RV enthusiasts, but almost none of them can stick to it without regretting it. The ideal is very full, but the reality is very skinny. Often an inadvertent mistake in the layout of the RV will make you start all over again. For example, the height of the vehicle seat must be 40-42 cm, the height of the fixed bed should not exceed 60 cm, and the height of the cooking cabinet 90 centimeters should be the limit, etc., if you take it for granted, there will be mistakes of one kind or another.

RV Type Selection Part 1:

The first is the Dream Tour pickup C-type RV. This kind of car actually has a good driving experience. After all, it is modified from a pickup truck. Another advantage of the C-type RV is that its windows are all push-pull, with sunshade curtains and mosquito screens, which are quite convenient and comfortable to use.

Therefore, in terms of the convenience and comfort of resting while parking, it is incomparable to the B-type RV. In fact, this time I finally chose the C-type Iveco RV, which has a lot to do with the comfort brought by the previous pickup truck RV.

The disadvantage is that there is a single wheel at the back, and the wheelbase is narrow, so the ability to resist cross winds is poor. When an oversized car is overtimed by a large car or the cross wind blows at high speed, it needs to be driven carefully. It’s amazing. Also because of the single rear wheel, the parking support needs to be shaken up when parking, or the box body at the back will shake violently when people move around.

RV Type Selection Part 2:

It is not recommended to buy a trailer RV, reason 1: destroy the front car. Before I used a 2.2T diesel SUV to tow a Flying God Raindrop towed car, the speed was about 100 kilometers per hour, and the fuel consumption was about 14 fuel. Fuel consumption is only 6 fuel. It can be seen how much the drag load of the small raindrops in the back is to the front car.

Long-term towing, the engine, gearbox, rear suspension and tires of the front car will be damaged to a large extent, especially the rear tires are very worn, and they are worn out. If you drive a long-distance trailer, the rear tires are easily scrapped Lose. So don’t listen to some manufacturers fooling you. 1.6 cars can be towed.

Reason 2: Unable to park. It can be imagined that the front car plus the trailer and the connecting part in the middle are about ten meters away. And reversing is just the opposite of our usual mode of reversing a car. My car experience is that parking is a disaster, especially in urban parking. In many cases, it takes a lot of effort to separate the rear car from the front car and find another parking space again, which is very troublesome.

RV Type Selection Part 3:

Sunshine Golden Dragon Sea Lion bakery car, this car actually has a lot of internal space, the effective use of space from the back of the driving seat to the back is 3.2 meters long, but the width is only 1.55 meters. First of all, this kind of car is lengthened and heightened, but the width is there, so it looks ugly from the outside. The biggest problem with this kind of car is that the driving experience is very poor. The top speed can reach more than 100 kilometers per hour, but the speed exceeds 80 kilometers per hour. The fuel consumption and noise are very high. Long-distance driving feels very tiring. When driving, there is a feeling of unwillingness to drive. Feel.

Although this kind of RV bare car is very cheap, less than 70,000 yuan, but the value of this car is not preserved, and it is difficult to find a buyer when it is sold again, so it is not recommended. If you insist on refitting a big bakery car with a naked car, I think the Foton G9 can be considered. The price of a bare car with an announcement is about 100,000. First of all, its appearance is much more beautiful, and second, the effective use of internal space is about 3.3*1.75 in length, width and height. * Around 1.73, this space is comparable to the long and high model of a B-type RV, and even exceeds it. Of course, this car similar to the Foton G9 is far inferior to the B-type RV in terms of driving experience.

For the new Transit RV, the length, width, and height of the effective space inside the center axle and center roof of this car are 2.9*1.75*1.77 meters, and the effective space from the inner driver’s seat to the rear box is 2.9 meters, which is a bit short.

However, the driving experience of this car is quite good. When driving at high speed, it will often drive to more than 130 kilometers inadvertently. The noise and comfort are comparable to that of an SUV. More fuel efficient. And it should be because the driver’s seat has a high view and does not bend his legs, so he will not be tired after long-distance driving.

Also, its appearance gets rid of the boxy feeling of the B-type car, and it looks round and beautiful. Of course, the unique toad-mouthed face of the Ford car on the front face is really not appreciated. Also, if you get used to driving this car, it can be used as a scooter, with fast speed up, smooth gear shifting, and the parking space is basically an ordinary car parking space.

Therefore, I recommend the new Transit for the B-type RV. It is indeed a very good model for remodeling the B-type RV. In fact, I later sold the new Transit RV and changed it to the current Iveco C-type RV. I was really reluctant. I just wanted more comfortable space for the C-type Iveco RV. A family of three with the elderly can live more comfortably. In fact, the new Transit RV is only suitable for a family of two, two and one, and the most suitable is for two people to travel and stay for a long distance.

If you need to refit the whole car, you usually need to remove all the decorative parts in the car first, and then decide whether to do sound insulation and heat preservation. My personal opinion is that if it is a C-type RV, then it is not necessary, and the car body itself has already been done. up.

If it is a B-type RV, because there are too many glasses in the car, and the car body is all connected by metal, the heat insulation and foaming will have some thermal insulation effect in winter, but the effect is not obvious. But summer can only be counterproductive. The sun is directly shining during the day, and rural farm houses cannot avoid being turned into a steamer. What’s more, the insulation layer in the car is gone. Instead, when the sun goes down in the evening, because the car body absorbs heat during the day, it will slowly release heat at night. Put it on, making it more difficult to dissipate heat in the car at night.

Step two:

For car interior decoration, the ceiling is usually decorated first, and then the surrounding car body, especially the wall cabinets. Generally, the electric lines in the car pass through the top wall cabinets, so wiring needs to be done in advance, otherwise all the decorations are done and the wiring is forgotten, so it can only be done inside the car. It will be very ugly to run the exposed lines or the wiring on the bottom of the car, because the top lights will inevitably have open lines, and the wiring on the bottom of the car is prone to aging, scratches, etc., which is prone to problems.

third step:

To install the floor, try to make an appointment with the floor installer at the store where you bought the floor, so that the installation quality is guaranteed and the efficiency is high.

To make the bed body of the fixed bed and the cabinet for cooking, the fixed bed must first weld the iron frame, and then fix the plate on it. The cooking cabinet may or may not have an iron shelf. I feel that if it is fixed properly and a better quality nail-free glue is used, it is actually not a big problem.

If there is a bathroom, make the bathroom.

Install water tanks, water heaters, water pumps, parking heaters, etc. on the bottom of the vehicle and under the fixed bed, and start to connect water pipes. Special attention should be paid to sealing and preventing leakage.

Step seven:

Install the main passenger seat and rear seats and lift table. Seat installation needs hard connection, and thick long screws need to go through the metal beam on the bottom of the car. The main and co-pilot seats are fine, and generally there is no problem. The rear seats need to observe the bottom of the car when you arrange it in advance. For example, if the bottom of the car happens to be a fuel tank, then fixing the seat is a big trouble.

Step Eight:

Open holes on the cabinet or wall of the car, and install sockets, lights, switches, and water level potential display lights. This step especially needs to echo the wiring at the beginning, and there must be a clear idea at the beginning, otherwise it is easy to cause misalignment of the wiring, which is troublesome to deal with. At this point, most of the modification of this car is basically completed. The specific matters that need to be paid attention to in each step are explained in detail next.

For example, in the car in the picture above, it is obvious that the rear tires are recessed a lot, so the ability to resist crosswinds during driving, especially at high speeds, is very poor. It is really important to increase the wheelbase of the dual tires. Even if I add 20,000 yuan, I will choose the widened type, because it is so critical to the driving safety and driving experience of the car, especially the C-type RV.

Why did I finally buy an Iveco naked car with a forehead type C RV:

First of all: the price is right. I initially calculated that the modification fee plus purchase tax can be settled within about 300,000 yuan. Compared with the finished RV, it is more than 400,000 to 500,000 yuan, saving money! Secondly: I am willing to use materials for modification, and pay attention to environmental protection, and the layout can be decided by myself.

Again: The new 3.0T FC1 engine of this Iveco touring car is really powerful, and the speed is strong. Although there is noise, it is found that the noise has been reduced a lot after the modification. With the windows closed and the speed above 60 kilometers per hour, the noise is almost covered by wind noise. In addition, the most satisfying part of this car is that the rear double tires of the car are widened, almost flush with the car body. The result is that the car is rarely affected by the cross wind, even if there is a strong wind at high speed, you can drive fast with confidence.

Most of the C-type car manufacturers now, because many of them are from similar workshops and it is difficult to announce the RV with double tires after widening, so they directly use the tire width of the original car embryo, and you will find that the rear tires will almost be recessed. The width of more than one tire is ugly, and the most important thing is that the ability to resist cross wind is poor. When driving at high speed, it will sway from side to side in the wind, which is not safe! This cannot be accepted.

at last:

Due to the influence of the first Dream Tour C-type pickup truck RV, I have always had a good impression of the C-type RV. Its large body and inner height, spacious beds, convenient sliding windows, blackout curtains and mosquito repellent The screen window, the comfort when parking is unmatched by B-type RVs, which is also the main reason why I finally chose C-type RVs after four or five RVs.

However, it is undeniable that the driving and handling of the C-type RV is far inferior to that of the B-type RV, and it is inconvenient to park. It has great limitations, and it doesn’t matter on the highway. If it is a downroad, you need to pay attention to the problem of the height limit pole all the time. Therefore, the C-type RV takes its parking comfort, and the B-type RV takes its driving experience, and the two cannot be taken into account.

Closer to home, let’s talk about the modification process in detail. I am used to the low noise of the new Transit, the diesel engine is loud, vibration damping and sound insulation, fully dismantled, the entire cockpit is equipped with a layer of shock absorbers and a layer of sound insulation cotton.

The anti-vibration material is very heavy, and the full set of anti-vibration and sound insulation for the cockpit is still worth tens of kilograms, and it is very laborious and does not have the expected effect.

But I think this kind of design is purely tasteless. Lifting up is just to install a TV and raise the headroom in the name of euphemism, but in fact this place is used occasionally when the cockpit is going to the compartment. I have always had a point of view that if the bed can be fixed, don’t change it. It is not beautiful or practical. The feeling of actual use is that it will always be in a fixed state in the end, just like changing the bed with a seat. Long-distance travel is often a dislike. Trouble, in the end the seat changed to a bed and it was always the state of the bed.

And from the 1.3-meter wide position to the side door of the car, there is still a distance of 30 centimeters, so I widened it here by 30 centimeters to 1.6 meters, until it reaches the door.
