A few days ago, Sichuan Province announced a notice on the implementation of the sixth phase of motor vehicle emission standards. The announcement indicated that Sichuan Province will soon carry out the implementation of the National VI emission standards in the form of sub-regions, sub-models, and steps.

Sichuan issued a notice on the implementation of China VI emissions, and diesel pickups were not affected!

According to the model, it is good for pickup trucks. Diesel pickup trucks will be implemented in China VI after one year :

Light-duty vehicles: From the date of implementation of this announcement, light-duty gasoline vehicles registered in Sichuan Province in Chengdu-Chongqing region shall comply with the “Limits and Measurement Methods of Pollutant Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (China Phase VI)” (GB 18352.6-2016) Phase 6a standard requirements; from July 1, 2020, all light vehicles sold and registered in the province should meet the standard requirements of Phase 6a.

The implementation time of the National VI emission standards for other models shall be in accordance with the “Limits and Measurement Methods of Pollutant Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (China Phase VI)” (GB 18352.6-2016) “Limits and Measurement Methods of Pollutant Emissions from Heavy-Duty Diesel Vehicles (China Phase 6)” Six Phases)” (GB 17691-2018) shall be implemented.

It is worth noting that in this announcement, light-duty diesel trucks are not included in the early implementation of the National VI models. For the local area, this is a favorable policy for pickup trucks. For a major pick-up truck province like Sichuan, it also brings a longer buffer period to many dealers and diesel users.
